Winter of 1997. Me (left) and my little brother (right), the night we first arrived in the United States.

Hi, My name is Christián. I am an essayist and storyteller exploring the intersections of motherhood, memory and migration. I co-run La Cuenta a publication near and dear to my heart that explores the costs incurred by roughly 11 million individuals in the U.S. that are labeled undocumented. You can find some of my essays and interviews there. You can also find some of my work featured on The Latino Newsletter and SOMOS a publication whose goal is to connect Latinos abroad. This year I have the absolute pleasure of being a 2025 Ann Friedman Fellow.
